Columbus police investigating overnight homicide on MLK Jr. Blvd.

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Columbus Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early overnight hours.

Columbus police have confirmed that 30-year-old Rufus Mabry was pronounced dead at Piedmont Regional Columbus from multiple gunshot wounds just before 3:00 a.m.

Emergency dispatch was called to the MLK Grocery Store on MLK, Jr. Blvd. at 2:20 a.m.

Neighbors claim they heard gunshots coming from the shopping center and saw a car leaving the scene.

Police have not yet named a suspect in the case.

This is Columbus' 17th homicide of the year.
