COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Piedmont Columbus Regional's Cancer Center is giving cancer survivors in the Chattahoochee Valley a chance to celebrate life.

After a fun-filled week of activities and events for those who are battling cancer or who have won their battle, the center capped off the week with a red carpet social.

Organizers say it is in celebration of National Cancer Survivors Day and is an opportunity for survivors to get together, socialize and build relationships.

Organizers say it is all about a celebration of survivorship today and every day.

"We look at events like this to get people together to talk about this, but more importantly to realize they're not alone. There are fifteen million people like them, and there are folks in Columbus, Georgia like them," says Chief Medical Officer Dr. Andrew Pippas.

Those in attendance got to enjoy a resource fair, a spa day and more.
