CPD investigating four separate weekend shootings

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Neighborhoods across the city experienced a violent weekend as police responded to four separate shootings within 48 hours.

Columbus Police responded first to the lone deadly incident, which happened at 2:30 A.M June 2.

Police confirmed Rufus Mabry Jr., 30, was shot and killed at the MLK shopping center on MLK Jr. Boulevard.

So far, investigators have not been able to find a suspect in this homicide.

The second shooting, happening at 11:55 PM June 2, on Webster Avenue near 13th Street, where police reports indicate one woman was shot. News Leader 9 received a Facebook tip about another alleged victim and her condition.

The victim's mother, wrote on social media, that she is "still in shock and a lot of pain," but recovering as of Sunday evening.

The third shooting took place Sunday, June 3, after 2:30 pm. Officers responded to a drive-by shooting on Sims Street, where three males were injured.

The fourth and latest round of gunfire was heard at 12:15 a.m. on June 4.

Columbus Police, again receiving calls and heading to the intersection of Colorado Street and Samson Avenue, where one person was shot.

If anyone has any information or knowledge of potential suspects in any of the four investigations, they are urged to contact the Columbus Police department as soon as possible.
