LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - A convicted murderer has been sentenced in a Lee County, Alabama courtroom.
After a Lee County Jury quickly handed a guilty verdict in the murder of Cordera Johnson, prosecutors today, arguing that Cordera Calloway receive a sentence that reflects the brutality of his crime in 2015.
Before the decision was made, Calloway's attorney, Lauryn Lauderdale, repeated in court that her client maintains his innocence
Cell phone records placed Calloway at the scene, leading the jury to convict him.
While both families declined to speak on camera, Johnson's family did express their disappointment in the final sentence but say they can now close this chapter and continue their healing process.
