COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A Columbus family is breathing a sigh of relief, hours after their house fire caught fire.

Their home off of Julia Ave. caught fire just after 5:00 p.m. June 5.

Columbus fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames with no damage to the home.

The family’s dog, however, was said to initially be in critical condition.

An EMS team was able to deliver oxygen to the dog and help get him back to good condition.

He was eventually on all fours and walking and is expected to be ok.
