Democrats meet in Columbus to encourage voter turnout

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Democrats from around the Chattahoochee Valley and Georgia met Friday morning to encourage people to vote.

Last month was a monumental win for Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams. She was selected as the first African American woman to be a major party nominee for governor in the United States.

Ahead of the upcoming election, the group joined outside the Columbus Convention & Trade Center to lend their support and encourage voter turnout.

The 2018 Georgia gubernatorial election will take place Nov. 6.
