FIRST TO ALERT: Strong Showers and Storms Moving Through the Valley
(Source: WTVM Storm Team 9)

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Scattered showers and thunderstorms lighting up on radar as expected thanks to an upper level low that's bringing more moisture into the area. Area's that haven't seen rain this afternoon are still in the lower 90's, but areas that have seen the rain are upper 70's!

These storms are in an environment that's allowing them to become strong to severe. Heavy rain, lightning, gusty winds, and even hail are possible with these storms. Stay weather-alert as we continue throughout the rest of the afternoon and evening!

Activity should die down as the sun sets, and we lose the fuel from the heating of the day. Similar rain coverage returns Sunday afternoon and takes us into the workweek.
