UPDATE: Suspect arrested, charged in shooting at Eagles Trace Apartments in Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

One suspect has been arrested and charged following a shooting at Eagles Trace Apartments Monday evening that left two people injured.

Jasaan Marion, 19,  was arrested Tuesday, June 12 and is charged with aggravated assault and violation of probation. Police are currently searching for a second suspect, 22-year-old Jaleel Merritt.

Officers were called to the 2000 block of Torch Hill Road regarding the shooting around 6 p.m.  According to police, the incident started with an argument between two women. The argument turned into a shootout between two men with innocent bystander Alvin Byrd getting shot in the shoulder. 

Byrd was treated at Piedmont Columbus Regional and has been released.

The condition of the second victim has not been confirmed. 

Marion's Recorder's Court hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 14 at 9 a.m.
