(WTVM) – A staffing agency in Opelika and the Alabama Department of Labor are assisting hundreds of employees who lost their jobs at MasterBrand Cabinets in Auburn.
"This is a tragic event that was not foreseen by any of the employees. Please stop by and donate what you are able to," the organization stated in a Facebook post.
1 on 1 Staffing Agency will be assisting with job placements including manufacturing jobs located in Auburn, Opelika, West Point, Lagrange, and Hogansville.
"We have a few forklift positions and heavy lifter material handler positions open at this time," Shakea Miller said, the founder and CEO of the agency. "We also have spoken to our leading contracted trucking company and they have offered to open up 75 slots for free truck driving classes at their trucking school."
The agency will also be assisting with placement for those with a nursing background to become a travel nurse.
They are also accepting all non-perishable food items on June 14 and June 15 from 9a/8c until 5p/4c at their office located at 507 S. 7th Street.
The City of Auburn and ADOL are also assisting with the 445 employees who lost their jobs at MasterBrand Cabinets.
ADOL had around 30-35 dislocated workers from MasterBrand come to the Opelika Career Center already.
They are encouraging all dislocated workers to contact their nearest career center for reemployment and training information.
