COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A man accused of aggravated assault in one of the most recent shootings in Columbus went before a judge in Recorder's Court Thursday morning.
Jasaan Marion, 19, pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and his case has been dismissed, after being arrested on Tuesday.
Columbus police responded to a shooting at Eagle Trace apartments after an argument between two women led to two men firing their guns.
An innocent bystander was shot in the shoulder but is expected to be ok. Marion's attorney, Stacey Jackson, says he's pleased with the judge's approval of dismissing the case as they continue the investigation of another suspect.
"I would like to commend the detective, detective Odom by following up on this investigation and not just stopping with the warrant continuing to talk with witnesses," Jackson said. "Talking to my client, interviewing my client after doing all that and doing the follow up he saw that my client had not committed a crime."
Detectives say they are now also looking for a second suspect in this case, 22-year-old Jaleel Merrit.
They are asking if you know anything about this individual or the case to please call Columbus Police.
In the meantime, Marion is expected to be released from the Muscogee County Jail this afternoon.
