Groundbreaking ceremony held for new senior living facility coming to Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A new senior living facility will soon come to Columbus.

A ground-breaking ceremony was held Thursday for the new Oaks Senior Living community which will open in May 2019.

The facility will be located off Whitesville Road in the Grove Park area. The new home will be new to 100 seniors and will bring more than 60 jobs to the city.

“What we are focusing on is giving our seniors and our residents purpose. We have adopted an alternative program that was founded almost 30 years ago. that really focuses on giving our residents a purpose in their everyday life,” said Alex Salabarria, CEO of Oaks Senior Living.  

In addition to personal care, Oaks Senior Living will offer amenities onsite such as a media room, physical/occupational/speech therapy, dental and podiatry services, beauty/barber shops, and more.

    Sunday, June 24, at approximately 10 p.m. the Lee County Sheriff’s Office assisted a Troup County Sheriff’s Office police unit that was in pursuit of a blue Chevy Malibu for speeding. The suspect vehicle was traveling southbound on Interstate 85 traveling 130 miles
