COURT: Columbus man on suicide watch after allegedly kidnapping his father at gunpoint

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Christopher Whitaker was due in Columbus Recorder's Court this morning but was not present.

The 30-year-old is the son of Chief Assistant District Attorney Alonza Whitaker and is accused of kidnapping his father at gunpoint.

Christopher is being held in the Muscogee County Jail and has been placed on suicide watch.

The hearing went on without him and Judge Julius Hunter ruled there was probable cause in the case and referred to Superior Court.    

He has been charged with kidnapping, possession of a firearm or a knife during a commission of a crime and robbery.
