RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - Two Democratic candidates in a runoff for Alabama state representative fielded questions from the Russell County NAACP during an official debate in Phenix City Tuesday evening.
Patsy Jones and Jeremy Gray addressed a crowd of voters from both Lee and Russell counties as they are vying for the District 83 seat, which represents both areas.
The candidates spoke about staying accountable for their constituents if elected.
"Hold me accountable for it, because if you feel like something wasn't going on or being done in your county or your district, you have the voice. The people have the voice. You voted the candidate in," said Gray.
"I'm making sure that your legislation is taken to Montgomery with all of the information that we've gathered from you, the people," Gray said.
Voters in District 83 will head to the polls Tuesday, July 17 to determine the winner of the runoff.
