FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - Changes to the way the Army keeps its troops in shape are on their way.
The Army Physical Fitness Test is about to make the change to a new gender and age neutral test, replacing the one that has been used for forty years.
This new test is expected to be rolled out by late 2020.
It will first undergo a year-long study to determine how to grade the test and how it will affect personnel policies like promotions and separations.
That study will begin in October.
Leaders are calling the new test a cultural and generational change in the Army's fitness of its troops.
