COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A man went before a judge in Recorder's Court answering to charges of false imprisonment and attempted rape.
According to Columbus police Joshua Lias, 27, was loitering inside the Circle K off of Fort Benning Road around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
When a worker confronted Lias about him loitering he grabbed her wrists and forced her into a restroom.
Shortly after, two out-of-town delivery men from The McLane Company came into the store and found Lias on top of the victim. They were able to pull him off and hold him down until police arrived.
Testimony in court revealed, Lias claimed when the victim confronted him to leave, she had spit on him. He also stated to police that he wasn't doing anything wrong.
The victim disputed Lias' claim in court. The victim and other workers also told the judge that Lias comes to that Circle K quite often.
She also said she feared for her life and wants to thank the two delivery men who saved her.
Lias pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment and attempted rape.
He remains in the Muscogee County jail on no bond and his charges have been bound over to Superior Court.
