COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Tony Keller and Nicholas Maughon both work for the McLane delivery company. They were doing a routine stop at the Circle K on Fort Benning Road when they say they heard something unusual inside the store.

"I'm coming down the ramp with a case stack of water and I just get to the front door and I hear a lady scream," says Keller.

They say when they looked inside the gas station, they saw a man trying to sexually assault one of the Circle K employees. According to police, the man grabbed the woman by the wrist and pulled her into the restroom. Both Keller and Maughon say that's when instinct kicked in.

"I didn't know if he was beating her up or wrestling with her or what he was doing. I just sprinted down the ramp, ran in and he and I got into a confrontation. He finally went to the ground and I just held him there in a chokehold until the cops came in," says Maughon.

Both men say they held the suspect down until the police arrived at the location. They say this isn't the first time a crime was committed at that location. A month ago, the same woman had a gun pointed at her in an attempted robbery.

"She's gone through a lot at that store in the past month I guess. I don't consider myself as a hero. A lady needed help and I was there to help her, me and my partner," says Keller.

27-year-old Joshua Lias pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment and attempted rape.

He remains in the Muscogee County Jail on no bond and his charges have been bound over to Superior Court.
