(WTVM) - Two local linebackers are up for national awards. Auburn High's Mohamoud Diabate and Troup County's King Mwikuta both made the high school Butkus Award preseason watch list. It's an award given it to the top linebacker in high school football every year.
Names like former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o and current Alabama linebacker Dylan Moses won the award in previous years.
No one from the Chattahoochee Valley has won the high school award since it began in 2008.
Three Alabama names made the preseason college watch list. Anfernee Jennings, Dylan Moses and Mack Wilson look to be the first Tide players since Reuben Foster in 2016.
Auburn's Deshaun Davis and Georgia's D'Andre Walker also made the preseason list.
