(WTVM) - The Georgia NAACP is calling for the resignation of current Georgia Secretary of State and Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp.
The organization is citing a conflict of interest in Kemp's use of the Georgia Secretary of State app and web pages to promote his campaign for governor.
The app and web pages in question are paid for by taxpayers.
"What an inappropriate use of taxpayers' monies," says President Phyllis Blake of the NAACP's Georgia State Conference. "We need a Secretary of State committed to protecting the voting process, not one seeking to manipulate loopholes and unfair advantages to game the system."
The Georgia NAACP says Kemp's actions are unethical and inappropriate.
The organization's call for resignation has only been connected to Kemp's position as Secretary of State. They have not called for him to step out of the gubernatorial race.
