COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A former first lady of Georgia is visiting Columbus and will be in the city through the weekend.
Shirley Miller, the widow of former Georgia Governor Zell Miller, made her first appearance at the Early College Academy and was welcomed by many city officials.
She is visiting Columbus as part of the Zell Miller Foundation.
Shirley Miller plans to tour the Chattahoochee Valley Certified Literate Community Program's facility and make brief remarks at a proclamation presentation from the City of Columbus.
"There is nothing to me like a GED graduation and I have done as many GED graduations as I could while my husband was active in politics. This is something that I feel very strongly about," said Shirley Miller.
The Muscogee County Superintendent and Columbus mayor-elect were both in attendance to meet Shirley Miller.
