Woman's Car Strikes Train

A driver is lucky is have escaped any injuries when her car collided with a train Friday afternoon in Phenix City.

It happened around 4pm at the 11th Avenue crossing near South Railroad Street.

A Norfolk Southern spokeswoman says the freight train, with 60 cars, was traveling east toward Columbus when the car struck the train.

The woman in the car wasn't hurt.

Norfolk Southern says that crossing doesn't have lights and gates, but does have a stop sign.  The speed limit for trains moving through that area is 25 miles per hour.
