Firearms Suspect Might Be Linked To Fake Bomb

A Lee County man, charged with firearms violations is a possible suspect in Thursday's fake bomb at the Smiths Station post office.

Thursday morning a suspicious package with flashing lights was found on the counter inside the post office.  The post office and surrounding streets were closed off for most of the morning as authorities later determined the device was a hoax.

Sheriff deputies say evidence discovered "possibly links" 64-year old Douglas Swords to the case.  He was arrested Thursday night on an unrelated firearms violation.

Swords is being held at the Lee County jail and the sheriff's office says charges are pending in the bomb scare.
