Temporary ER Up and Running in Sumter County

Another sign of recovery is at Sumter Regional Hospital, heavily damaged in the storm.

A fully functional emergency room is up and running in the hospital's parking lot.

Hospital workers tell us it has been a real challenge.

Comfort Green from Sumter Regional Hospital, says, "it's been hectic, but the community is right here with us. They are helping us out, we are out here to do whatever it takes for us to get patients from our 8 county area to come back and get medical services."

They have, in essence, a 50 bed hospital in a tent up and running, taking care of any emergency needs.

In a few weeks they tell me they'll be able to perform surgery.
