Twenty More Counties Added to Fire Alert List

Extremely dry conditions have landed several east Alabama counties on alert status for possible wildfires.

Less than a week after the first day of spring, the word drought is being used to describe the weather.

Rainfall is in short supply, as an abundance of pollen would indicate, and it has put a number of areas at risk for fire.

Extremely dry conditions have landed several east Alabama counties on alert status for possible wildfires.

20 more counties have been added to the fire alert list in Alabama, including, Bullock, Macon and Russell counties in this area.

Burn permits are restricted in the affected counties.

Some two-dozen brush fires have broken out across Alabama in the last four-days, including one in Auburn.

So far, this is one of the driest springs on record.
