Muscogee County Prisoner Escapes From Work Detail

Columbus police and Muscogee County deputies are looking for an escaped inmate. Officials say Brandon Turner took off Thursday night, while on work detail at the government center.

This is the second inmate to escape from custody, while on work detail at government center, in the last five months.

Prison officials say a corrections officer for public services was supervising eight inmates at the government center Thursday night, when he saw Turner slip away and get into a car, possibly a blue Lincoln.

The deputy warden believes Turner may be heading to Alabama, because he has family in Eufaula. Prison officials say they've told autorities in Alabama to keep an eye out for Turner.

The deputy warden says Brandon Turner was serving a one year sentence for shoplifting. He had just entered the Muscogee County prison a few weeks ago, on March 23rd.

Back in October, Walker Sapree, also escaped from work detail at the government center. He was caught the next day by an off-duty corrections officer.
