Auburn's Board of Trustees approved a housing project worth $118,000 Friday. "The Village" will consist of eight buildings for approximately 1,700 students, and it will be built across the street from Jordan-Hare Stadium.
One Trustee raised concerns about security in the new building in the wake of the Virginia Tech tragedy. One thing students will use is key cards.
"Different students' cards will get them access to different places. Everybody that lives in one building will be able to get into the building. People that live on one half of the floor will be able to get in there, but not to the other residential areas," said John Mouton, senior adviser to the president.
