How To Use References To Your Advantage

-Solid references are an important part of the job search process, but should be used appropriately.

-Only use references that you think will reflect on your experience with them in a positive manner.

-The phrase ''references upon request'' is unnecessary. Employers assume they will be provided with a list if they ask.

-References should *not* be listed on a resume. It is better to wait until the final stages of the process before providing names to prospective employers.

-Notify your references that a potential employer may be calling.  It will give them a chance to prepare to hopefully give you a glowing recommendation!
