Braves Sweep Pirates

Michael Rossi (3-for-4) hit two homeruns and drove in six runs to lead Northern Little League (District 8) to a 15-2 victory over Hart County (District 7) in the 10-11 year-old state tournament being held at Northern.  Northern scored six runs in the third inning to take a 9-2 lead including three on Rossi's first homerun.  Rossi's 2-run homerun in the fifth was part of a 5-run outburst allowing Northern to win by the 10-run mercy rule.

Nick Poskey started the game for Northern but was removed for pitch count considerations and Jacob Hinson pitched the balance of the game.  Will Kilgore (2-for-3, 2B), Harrison Kurtz (2-for-3, 2 2B), and John Jones (2-for-2, 2BB) led offensively for Northern.  Brady Burgess (1-for-2) accounted for Hart County's only two runs with a towering homerun in the second inning and Zack Harris was 2-for-3.

The win moves Northern to 2-0 in pool play and Hart County goes to 0-2.  Northern plays Buckhead Piedmont (District 2) Tuesday at 6:00 pm while Hart County plays Oconee American Monday at 6:00 pm.
