Fewer Than Expected Died on State Roadways

September 4, 2007

Fewer people than expected died on area highways over the Labor Day weekend.

The Georgia State Patrol predicted 18 deaths, but wound up with only 11.

That's despite almost 700 more crashes than troopers expected.

Alabama's Department of Public Safety tells us there were only four traffic deaths over Labor Day weekend.

One was a pedestrian, while two were bicycle riders.
