State championship banners line the gymnasium rafters, and trophies fill the cases near the school's entrance.
At Columbus High, no one can escape the overwhelming evidence of the school's many accomplishments.
"With academic and athletic excellence, we're not just normal graduates, we're Columbus High graduates, knowing we did the best we can," said Sophomore Charlie Sparks, currently ranked #1 in the state in Boys Cross Country.
According to the Georgia Public Policy Foundation, Columbus High has the third best academic program in the entire state.
Last year, Columbus High Students earned Georgia's sixth Highest SAT scores.
Not to mention their #4 ranking in overall state sports programs.
"A lot of scouts know of Columbus, know of our consistent rankings, that we continually put out good athletes," said Senior Zachary Laughlin, the pitcher of the baseball team, who will be signing with the Georgia Bulldogs in November.
The Blue Devil's reputation for excellence follows students everywhere they go, with people knowing who they are before they even step into a room.
"When we went into competition, you can feel a sense of them knowing that you're there, and everyone, you can hear them say, that's Columbus, that's Columbus," said Senior Tosheka O'Neal, who won Best Actress last year at the state theatre competition.
At Columbus High, students say this is the place where they can stand out, yet still feel like a part of the crowd.
"Everyone is working towards being the best they can...so it's not like your left out, it's what everyone is doing," said Senior Eryn Maynard, the president of the school's NASA Program.
