Women Inspired By Get Moving Segment To Lose Weight

A few times every week several women exercise at the Junction City Volunteer Fire Department.  Their goals, like many, are to lose weight and get healthier.  However, for two of them their weight loss is sky rocketing.

Both Lisa Armour and Stephanie Smith are cousins and since last April have been working hard to lose weight.  "I couldn't bend down and tie my shoes without giving out of breath.  After taking Christmas pictures, we got them developled and I saw how big I was.  That was the wake-up call for me," said Armour.

Both women say problems associated with weight run in their family and they just didn't want to be the next victims.  "My parents are overweight with heart problems.  I don't want to be like that," said Smith.

"They are so much healthier now.  They are much happier, they have better family life and church life.  I am so proud of them," said Aunt Kay Evans.

Lisa began at 235 pounds and has lost 44 pounds and Stephanie began at 183 and has since lost 36 pounds.  "I've cried many days I sat and cried because I felt like I couldn't do it, but then I look at pictures and I have done it," said Armour.

"This has been the hardest thing I had to do in my life.  It's hard to stick with it but we have done it," said Smith.

After seeing the Get Moving Monday's segment debut last year both Lisa and Stephanie say it's nice to get an extra boost every week.  "Every Monday its like, let me see whats going to happen this week.  I always want to see what I can incorporate in my workout," said Armour.

They both are getting closer to their goals, but they hope people at home take on the challenge to get in shape.  "Just remember you are the only person that can change your life.  You can have someone inspire you but you have to get up and get moving," said Smith.

Right now, Lisa wants to lose about 50 to 60 more pounds and Stephanie wants to lose another 30 pounds.

Their aunt Kay has been supporting the ladies and just volunteering to workout has lost 31 pounds.  They workout every week at the Junction City Volunteer Fire Department and encourage anyone who would like to join them to come out.

Two quotes they say helped them through the process are "Pain is weakness leaving your body" and the other is, "Pain is temporary, quitting is forever."
