Kia training center's grand opening

WEST POINT, Ga. (WTVM) - Today, Kia Motors is opening it's first building in West Point.

Local and state dignitaries will be on hand for the grand opening of the Kia Georgia Training Center.

The new building is equipped with pre-employment training equipment and job specific training for employees at Kia's 1.2 billion assembly facility.

Training would include robotics, welding, electronics, labs, and classrooms. Employees will train in a simulated work environment on the same kinds equipment used in the production faciltiy.

Production at the assembly plant won't begin until 2009 - that plant is still under construction.
