Columbus man dies in mobile home blaze

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM)-- A Columbus man is dead after his mobile home went up in flames.

The fire broke out around 2:00 a.m. Saturday in the Park Village Mobile Home Park on Old Cusseta Road.

Twenty-four-year-old Frederick Sampson was inside. His family tells News Leader 9 one of Sampson's friends owns the mobile home.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley at 2:45 a.m.

An autopsy reports shows Sampson died from smoke and soot inhalation. No foul play is suspected.

Fire Department officials are still trying to determine what caused the fire.  They say at this time, they can not rule out the possibility of an electrical problem. The fire caused an estimated $15,000 in property damage.
