Shooting in East Alabama leaves one man dead, another in hospital

OPELIKA, Al. (WTVM)-Police in East Alabama are investigating two early morning shootings that left one man dead and another in the hospital.

Officers now believe those shootings are connected....

Police officers found 25-year old Demecio Griffin of Opelika lying in the middle of South Long Street around 1:30 AM Sunday, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Griffin was taken to the East Alabama Medical Center where he later died.

44-year old Reginald Moffett of Salem was also taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound...he was treated and released.

Police say Moffett was shot at the same place on South Long Street as Griffin, and the two shootings are connected in some way.
