Johns Posts Bail, Has Interesting Job on Side

June 25, 2008

Tuscaloosa, Ala. (WSFA) -- Former Alabama linebacker Jimmy Johns is out of jail after posting a $120,000 bond Wednesday morning. He now awaits a court date.

Johns faces up to 20 years in prison and a $30,000 fine for each of the five charges of cocaine distribution he is charged with, and 10 years for the possession charge.

More details are coming out on the two month long investigation into Johns' dealings.

According to the Mobile Press Register, one of the alleged cocaine deals took place in the Alabama Football Complex parking lot.

Police have video or audio on all five of John's cocaine deals, which all occurred within a span of three days last week.

And Johns was running another interesting business on the side, in which he bred and sold Pitbulls.

His website, www.jimmyjohnspitbulls.com was taken down late Wednesday afternoon.

On the page he had several pictures of himself in full UA football uniform.

Using his likeness on the website to sell dogs violates NCAA bylaw 12.5.2.1 Advertisements and Promotions After Becoming a Student-Athlete.

It's a matter that is mute now that he's been kicked off the team.
