AL Serving Online Food Applications

September 25, 2008

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WXTX) - The state of Alabama is making it easier to apply for food assistance programs.

The state has landed a $600,000 federal grant to create a web-based application for food assistance that can be used statewide.

The grant will allow families to apply anywhere that has Internet access.

Currently, they have to fill out paper forms and take them to county offices of the Department of Human Resources.

The $600,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will be paid in equal installments over three years.
