Hometown Spirit: Long-Term Rivalry Between Brookstone and Pacelli

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - News Leader Nine takes a look at the long-time rivalry between Brookstone and Pacelli! Here's what people said was the truth behind the rivalry.

Brookstone's Headmaster, Scott Wilson said, "Brookstone - Pacelli, that rivalry dates back many years and it's been an evenly contested rivalry between two really fine schools."

Pacelli's Head football coach, Bryan Eason said, "It's a huge competition. They've grown up together playing baseball, football, basketball. They've known each other since they were five years old. There's nothing better than playing someone you've played your whole life."

Brookstone student, Blake Bowden said, "Its tradition. They've always been our rival and it's really exciting. We're better than them."

The Vice-President of Pacelli's student council, Charles Rossi said, "When we talk about Pacelli to future students we have to mention the rivalry. The atmosphere of that week, it's not just Friday night, its game week."

Brookstone's football player. Austin Ball said, "Only two private schools in Columbus. It's been a tradition for 30, 40 maybe 50 years."

Saint Anne Pacelli K-8 principal, Jenn Ford said, "It's a chance to show school spirit and show pride in their school. And everyone wants their school to be the best. The kids really keep the spirit alive.">

Brookstone student, Brad Bowden said, "It's really competitive every year and whoever wins gets the jug."

Pacelli's student council president, Allison Hall said, "It's one of those things "us against them". It's fun, that's why it keeps going on because it's a fun tradition."

"Brookstone is the proud holder of the jug and I'm pretty confident the jug will stay right here," added Headmaster Wilson.
