Muscogee County School District Employee Under Investigation

By Lindsey Connell - bio | e-mail

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  On Thursday, the mother of a sixteen-year-old student at Jordan Vocational High School reported her son missing to the Columbus Police Department. She says he ran away yesterday and tells News Leader 9 he may be with a female teacher who once taught him at Jordan.

And the concerned mother, who does not want to be identified, says she believes the teacher and her son have been intimate.

Officials aren't saying much on the matter at this point. The spokesperson for the Muscogee County School District says the school district is investigating allegations that have been made regarding an employee at Jordan High School, however, personnel issues cannot be discussed.

And Columbus Police Chief Ricky Boren says his department is following up on allegations concerning the relationship between the teacher and student.

Meanwhile, the students mother spent the day meeting with Jordan's principal, the school district's security chief and police. She says her main focus is getting her son home safe.

The Division of Family and Child Services could not confirm or deny to WTVM if they are investigating the allegations but school district officials say DFACS is involved.

Of course we'll continue to bring you the latest on this developing story.
