Police: Two business burglaries along Macon Road appear connected

(WTVM) -- Columbus police are investigating two business burglaries along Macon Road that appear to be connected.

Two men broke into the K-mart on Macon Road around 4 a.m. Police say they tried to make off with money from some of the registers, but failed, and ran off.

Fifteen minutes later, down the street, at the Wachovia Bank on Wynnton Road, somebody fired shots through the North glass door of the business and got inside the bank.

Police are looking at surveillance video to possibly identify the burglars and say nothing was stolen.
