Teacher Arrested for Child Molestation

TROUP COUNTY, GA (WXTX) - Troup County Sheriff's officers arrested a school teacher  on charges of aggravated child molestation, child molestation, and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

Elizabeth Gaddy is a seventh grade teacher at Callaway Middle School. She has been on administrative leave since November 20, 2008 -- pending investigation of her professional conduct.

Authorities were prompted by parents of the teacher's behavior. The results of their probe led to charges.

"We are deeply saddened by this situation," said Dr. Edwin Smith, superintendent of Troup County Schools.  "As educators, we have a solemn responsibility to look out for the safety and welfare of our students. Anything less is in direct contrast to our mission and purpose.  The Board of Education has been informed and will follow due process based on the outcome of these charges."
