OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - Police arrested 21 year-old Corey Walp Thursday afternoon.  He's been charged with impersonating a peace officer.

Walp turned himself into police around 2:00 p.m. and is currently being held in the Lee County Detention Center.

On January 12th, Walp allegedly attempted to pull over a woman on Pepperell Parkway. The victim said that the impersonating cop was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe, with fake police lights.  The victim said she was suspicious of the man and chose not to pull over. She immediately called the Opelika Police Department to report what was happening.

"She gave sufficient information. The reporting officers were actually able to locate the suspect," said Captain Allan Elkins, Opelika Police.
