TROUP COUNTY, GA (WXTX) - Fox 54 has confirmed reports of a fatal accident at mile marker 4 -- near the new KIA plant.
Georgia State Patrol says on Tuesday the driver of an Expedition ran off the shoulder, over corrected then lost control, causing her vehicle to cross the median and strike a car head-on driven by 64 year-old Rudine Towles of Lanett, AL.
Towles was pronounced dead at the scene.
We're told two kids were ejected from the vehicle because they were not wearing seatbelts.
A 14 year-old was air lifted to the Medical Center, a 12 year-old was taken to Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley, Alabama, and a 10 year- old, who was wearing a seatbelt was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The names of the kids have not been released.
The driver of the SUV, 37 year-old Gloria Ayala-Delopez from Snellville, GA was taken to the hospital as well. We're told her husband was in the car, but was not transported to the hospital.
