Kia supplier to take applications, Monday

LAGRANGE, GA - Anyone interested in applying for one of 600 stamping, production and assembly positions at Sewon America is encouraged to submit an application at the Georgia Quick Start office in LaGrange starting Monday, Feb. 9 at 8 a.m.

Quick Start's office is located at 303 Fort Drive in LaGrange. Applications will be accepted between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Feb. 9, 10 and 11.

The Georgia Department of Labor will be on hand at Quick Start's office to process the applications for Sewon America, a tier-one supplier to the Kia automotive assembly facility currently under construction in West Point.

Georgia Quick Start is the nation's top-ranked workforce training organization that provides customized training for qualified companies creating or retaining jobs in Georgia. Quick Start is currently providing workforce training to team members at Sewon America. Quick Start will also provide the training for the successful applicants during this round of hiring. Quick Start was one of the major incentives that convinced Sewon America to choose the Georgia as the location for its facility.

"We were looking for the best investment, the best plant site possible," said Sewon America President Do Hyun Kim at a recent ceremony held to formalize the Quick Start training agreement. "We were impressed by Quick Start; their know-how, their training program, and especially the quality of their method stood out from other states."

Applicants for the positions must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and manufacturing experience is preferred. For more information about the application process, call the Georgia Department of Labor Career Center in LaGrange at (706) 845-4000.
