By R. Burkard

FORT BENNING, Ga. (WTVM) -- Investigators suspect a weekend fire which destroyed the Fort Benning Judge Advocate General building was deliberately set.

Agents from the Army Criminal Investigation Command are offering a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the persons involved.

The fire is being investigated as a possible arson, and investigators suspect that the person responsible for the fire may have received burns or other injuries during the incident Friday night.  One Fort Benning MP was treated for smoke inhalation, while battling the fire.

The JAG building was the second-oldest building on post, and is now in ruins.  Legal services have been moved elsewhere on post, but the exact location was not available to wtvm.com Monday morning.

People with information in the case are asked to call Fort Benning investigators at 706-545-8915.
