Money Saving Tip: Don't Get Taken For a Ride!

COLUMBUS, Ga (WTVM) - Used cars can be a very cost effective alternative for consumers, but how do you know when the sale is on the up and up?

Some used cars have been stolen, damaged in floods and even fires.  However, there's now a free way to check a car's history before you buy it.

The National Insurance Crime Bureau just launched a free service called VINcheck.  You simply go to and enter the vehicle ID number.  The site does note, however, that not every stolen or totaled vehicle appears in its database.
