COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A house party ended in gunfire and a man on the run. News Leader 9 is learning the shooting happened at a home that may have doubled as a night club.
Police say when they arrived at a home on Buena Vista Road, Sunday, 24-year-old Kevin Washington was shot in the chest. Around 70 people were at the home where alcohol was being sold and a cover fee charged. Police suspect the residence is also being used as a nightclub, but one neighbor tells a different story.
Thomas London told News Leader Nine, "I don't know if he's got a nightclub over there. I can't say he does and I can't say he doesn't. I haven't heard any noise over there or anything."
Police say Marie's Beauty Salon is also operating out of the house. We checked with Columbus Codes and Inspections and they tell us that although the location is a commercial property, it is not licensed as a bar or lounge. And with day cares in the area, it would be very unlikely that a beer or liquor license would be granted.
"I don't know if there's a crowd or what he's doing over there, really. He lives his life and I live mine. He's a good neighbor. If there are a lot of cars in the parking lot, I don't see them over there," added London.
Twenty-six-year-old, Bolivar Glenn was taken into custody and charged with maintaining a disorderly house.
Police have outstanding warrants and are looking for 22-year-old Isaac Jones in relation to the shooting.
If you have any information on his whereabouts, you are urged to call Columbus Police at (706)653-3400.
At this time, Columbus Police are still investigating the shooting, but are not making any additional charges regarding the nightclub.
