Russell County, AL (WTVM) - Due to the proration of state funds, Russell County School Board members are trying to figure out how to cut hundreds of thousands of dollars without cutting jobs.

School Superintendent Dr.Yvette Richardson presented her plan to board members at Tuesday night's meeting.

As she explains, her strategy is to balance the bad news with some good.

"The flexibility we were given was instead of funding teacher units by local funds, we were able to use federal funds, therefore we had to eliminate positions. But we were able to reestablish those positions by the utilization of federal funds," says Richardson.
