Jens Quistgaard, president and CEO of Lipsonix in bothell, washington, has a revolutionary idea on how to get rid of fat. Liposonix has raised ten million dollars to develop a system which uses ultrasound waves to loosen and liquify fat, then let the body break it down and eliminate it naturally. The technique has been demonstrated in animals. Clinical trials on humans could start next year. About 230-thousand patients undergo lipsuction operations each year in the United States. One in five thousand die from complications. The Liposonix company hopes if their new medical device is successful if will not only remove fat but make the entire procedure much safer. It is non invasive. You into the office for a 45 minute procedure and you can be playing tennis the next hour.
