BRUNSWICK, GA (WTVM) - Brunswick Police and the Third Brigade confirm that 23-year-old Spc. Antonio Weems was murdered on Saturday night.

The soldier was found dead inside his car around 8pm, on the corner of F Street and Johnston in Brunswick -- he died from a gun shot wound to the head.

His girlfriend was with him at the time, 19 year old Vonquicha Moore of Salem, AL; she was found a couple blocks away, shot in the neck, but still alive.

Paramedics transported her to the hospital, and she is in stable condition at Savannah Hospital.

Brunswick Police have no suspects at this time. Sources say marijuana was found in Weems' car, but police are not saying if the murder was drug related.

Investigators are traveling to Savannah to interview Moore, and see why the two were in Brunswick in the first place, since neither have family there.

Weems had been with the 2-69 Armour Battalion since 2006, deploying with them to Iraq in March 2007. He was originally from Ventura, California.

The Third Brigade, though, will not be holding a memorial service for Weems.

Post officials cannot say if a full military funeral with honors will be offered to his family, since investigators are still trying to determine if drugs were involved.

His battalion will be having a moment of silence this week.
