Wacoochee repairs may start Wednesday

LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - Lee County Schools Superintendent,  Dr. Steve Nowlin,  hopes contractors will start working on Wacoochee Jr. High School this Wednesday.

Bids for contractors opened Friday morning and closed that afternoon. Seven contractors made bids.

The School Board will hold a meeting Tuesday (March 10

) at 6:00 p.m. CST at the Lee County Instructional Facility in Salem to approve a contractor bid (or bids).

Dr. Nowlin says he will ask the contractor (or contractors) to start working on the school on Wednesday.  There is no guarantee that they will.

At least a 5,000 square foot of classrooms will have to be repaired.

The heating and cooling system needs to be replaced and the cafeteria roof will need to be replaced with a metal roof.

We're told since the gymnasium was not damaged, Dr. Nowlin offered the space to a church next door.
