Police name suspect in Fort Benning Soldier Murder

BRUNSWICK, GA (WTVM) - The Brunswick Police Department announced on Tuesday the name of a suspect in the shooting death of a Fort Benning soldier.

Police have asked the public for help in locating 22-year-old Wayne Darnell Roberson, of Brunswick.

Brunswick police said Roberson is somehow involved in Saturday's fatal shooting of Spc. Antonio Weems.

Weems was killed about 8 p.m. while sitting in his car at the intersection of F Street and Johnson. Weems' girlfriend, Vonquicha Moore, 19, was shot in the neck.

Moore was stabilized at the Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center, and then transferred to a Savannah hospital for additional treatment.

Warrants for charges of murder, aggravated battery, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon have been issued for Roberson in relation to the shootings.
